National Beer Day is marked annually on April 7 to celebrate one of the favorite alcoholic beverages and to commemorate the enactment of the Cullen-Harrison Act in 1933.

After 13 years of prohibition, the act -- named after its sponsors Sen. Pat Harrison and Representative Thomas Cullen -- had made the buying, selling and drinking of beer and wine legal in the United States.
