National Chocolate Day is marked Oct. 28 to celebrate all things chocolate. The day was created by the candy makers at the National Confectioners Association.

Making chocolate is a laborious and time-consuming process. The sweet treat is made from cocoa beans that are harvested from cacao trees. The process involves roasting and fermenting the beans and grinding them into a liquor, which is later transformed into baking chocolate, cocoa powder or, ultimately, eating chocolate.
