National Grandparents Day is celebrated on the first Sunday after Labor Day annually. This year, the unofficial holiday falls on Sept. 12.

The day recognized in 1979 is usually observed by giving gifts, expressing love in different ways and spending some quality time with the Nanas and Papas, Grams and Gramps and Bubbes and Zaydes. The first proclamation was released by then-president Jimmy Carter.

To mark the occasion, here are a few quotes to share with your grandparents. (Courtesy: American Grandparents Association and quotegarden)
