KEY POINTS

  • ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ Season 7 won't air new episodes this year
  • The CBS series will return early next year
  • The show will continue to take place in the pandemic world

“NCIS: New Orleans” Season 7 Episode 5 is not airing this week. Fans will be disappointed to know that the police-procedural drama has taken another hiatus, this month.

The show returned last week after a brief hiatus and aired an explosive episode 4. Now, the show has gone into another hiatus, a two-week-long Christmas break. There will be no new episode until January 2021, according to Cartermatt.

Fans will not be surprised with this schedule shakeup as CBS shows usually take a break every year during the holiday season. However, when the show returns, fans can expect to see some big revelations.

“NCIS: New Orleans” Season 7 Episode 5 is titled “Operation Drano, Part 1.” As the title suggests, it is expected to be a multi-episode story arc. The outlet suggests that the episode 5 storyline will be a two-part story continuing with the regular storytelling style of the series.

Since the show is taking a long break, it is too early to expect spoilers for the next chapter of the series. However, Cartermatt suggests that the upcoming episodes will include “longer narratives” and unexpected twists while tackling some “serious subjects.”

Meanwhile, last week’s episode “We All Fall….” featured a strong storyline about the murder of an officer who was a key witness to police misconduct and brutality that led to the death of an innocent person. The murdered officer was about to blow the whistle and bring out the truth regarding the corrupt officers.

Investigating their own people at the NOPD, Scott Bakula’s character Pride takes the lead and learns that the problem goes deep within their department. With so many obstacles and dead-ends, Pride finds himself at the center of an investigation by SWAT officers. As he delves deeper, he learns Commander Campbell is the head of the corrupt officers. Elsewhere, the show features the impact of the ongoing pandemic. C. C. H. Pounder’s character Loretta Wade addresses her growing anxiety due to the fast-spreading deadly virus.

“NCIS: New Orleans” Season 7 Episode 5 airs Sunday, Jan.3, 2021, on CBS. It will be followed by episode 6 titled “Operation Drano, Part II,” which is coming out on Jan. 10, 2021.
