Neil Patrick Harris did a sweet gesture for his husband, actor David Burtka, on their third wedding anniversary. The “How I Met Your Mother” alum took to social media to express his gratitude to the man who decided to build a family with him.

On Wednesday, Harris posted an adorable photo of him receiving a kiss on the cheek from Burtka on Instagram. Aside from sharing the sweet photo, Harris grabbed the chance to pour his heart out for his partner in the caption he wrote.

“I got married three years ago today,” Harris stated. “Thanks, David, for choosing me. For challenging me. For creating a family with me. For being a safe space that I can call home. And for your bountiful love. Happy Anniversary.”

Since uploading the post on social media, Harris has been receiving a lot of wonderful messages from fans. “You two deserve all of the happiness in the world,” one wrote. “Beautiful photo. So much love and so much happiness. Congrats,” another commented.

Harris, 44, and Burtka, 42, tied the knot on Sept. 6, 2014 in Italy. Though the two actors are currently celebrating their third anniversary as husbands, they had actually been together a decade before they tied the knot, as per ET Online.

The comedian and the professional chef are parents to fraternal twins Harper Grace and Gideon Scott, who are turning 7 this October, People has learned. They had their kids via surrogacy in 2010.

Back in 2012, Burtka did a sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey to talk about his twins with Harris. “Two eggs, two embryos, one of mine, one of his,” the celebrity chef was quoted as saying by Daily Mail at the time. He added that the conception of their kids was a miracle of modern science.

Prior to their wedding anniversary this year, Harris and Burtka took their kids to Alaska for a fun-filled adventure. The “Doogie Howser, M.D.” actor documented their weekend getaway on his Instagram. Based on the photos Harris shared online, the entire family had a blast exploring the pristine Alaska wilderness and creating “memories that will last lifetimes.”
