In related news, Princess Diana's past interview about Prince Philip advising Prince Charles to reconcile with Camilla if his marriage with the People's Princess doesn't work out after five years has resurfaced. According to the late Princess of Wales, she had a hint of it and finally confirmed it when she and Prince Charles split.

"My father-in-law said to my husband, 'If your marriage doesn't work out, you can always go back to her after five years,'" Princess Diana said in a 2017 Channel 4 special that utilized taped conversations between the Princess of Wales and her voice coach. "Which is exactly—I mean, for real I knew that it had happened after five—I knew something was happening before that but the fifth year I had confirmation."

Princess Diana was aware of Prince Charles and Camilla's affair. In fact, she confronted the Duchess of Cornwall at one point when she looked for her husband in one gathering where the three of them were present.

"Camilla, I'd just like you to know that I know exactly what is going on," Princess Diana told Camilla.
