  • Adobe has a new camera app for mobile
  • The new Photoshop Camera lets users use a myriad of filters on their photos
  • The app is primarily designed for social

The rise of social media has increased the number of people who love to take photos of themselves, to be shared online via their various accounts on Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and the like. All of these apps allow users to edit their photos to their liking, so they will look just like how they want to appear. Now, a new app from Adobe attempts to challenge the camera features these apps have.

Photoshop Camera is a new app that allows users to take photos and tweak them to their liking. It allows users to apply effects and/or filters before or after taking photos, all with just one tap. The app uses artificial intelligence called “Sensei” to edit photos, allowing users to focus on making poses and taking shots instead of editing.

Adobe said the app features more than 80 filters and effects to choose from at the moment. These filters include Portrait, Studio Light, Bloom, Pop Art, Spectrum, Desync, Food, Scenery, Natural Skies, Analog, Night Shift, and more. There are filters that allow for changing the color of the entire photo, and there are some that will let users change the background behind the subject.

The app also offers portrait controls so that every portrait image will appear to have adequate lighting, particularly on one's face. Adobe said these features will make sure that there will be “no more under-eye bags.” It also said that the app will recognize where every person in every group selfie is positioned so that it could do away with unsightly distortions.

The app, which is built primarily for social, doesn't just allow users to apply filters to every photo. It is also capable of removing unwanted parts from every photo, even while the user is still busy framing the shot, Gizmodo noted. This means users won't have to worry about certain things, like photobombers, that add some uninteresting details beside or behind the subject.

The new Photoshop Camera app can now be downloaded for iPhones from the App Store. Android smartphone users will also be able to download the app from the Play Store.
