A dog was in a guarded condition after a man struck the canine with his vehicle and dragged it a few feet. The incident took place in Ontario County, New York, on Saturday.

According to local reports, witnesses saw the accused, identified as 54-year-old Daniel G. Haas, chase the canine before intentionally striking it with his vehicle. He then dragged the dog, a one-year-old pit bull, under his vehicle for almost six feet. After dragging the canine, Haas got out of his vehicle and started beating the canine with the vehicle’s front passenger head rest before fleeing the scene.

One of the witnesses managed to obtain the vehicle’s license plate and alerted the police. The vehicle was located at Haas’ residence a while later. He was taken into custody and charged with aggravated cruelty to an animal and animal abandonment. The accused remained in jail as of Monday.

Meanwhile, the dog was taken to a vet by the Ontario County Humane Society. Medical tests stated the pit bull had severe trauma from this incident. The canine was in a guarded condition, and investigation into the incident was ongoing.

In a similar incident of animal cruelty in Florida on Saturday, a man was arrested for killing his pet dog by dragging the canine using a golf cart. The accused, identified as 79-year-old Dean Woodyatt, chained his German shepherd to the back of his golf cart and dragged the canine down the road despite several onlookers trying to stop the crime.

An onlooker managed to stop the accused before the police arrived. Woodyatt, however, tried resisting arrested by holding onto the golf cart. He was arrested and charged with animal cruelty and resisting arrest. Meanwhile, the responding officers found the canine with several injuries to its feet, struggling to breath. The canine succumbed to injuries.

In another incident of animal cruelty last week, a dog shot in the face was found covered in blood on a porch in Maryland. Animal control responded to call and found the canine lying on a porch. The officials rushed the canine to the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter with blood “originating from the dog’s face.” Medical tests confirmed the facial injury was from a bullet wound.
