The feud between Nickelback's Chad Kroeger and Corey Taylor — singer of Slipknot and Stone Sour — heated up Tuesday when Taylor said that the Nickelback frontman has a "face like a foot" after Kroeger insulted both of his bands.

"I love all the dudes in that band. I love Mike [Kroeger, the bassist of Nickelback]. Everybody else in that band I'm very, very cool with. I've hung out with them. It's just 'Face Like A Foot' who I can't really hang out with. He's got a face like a foot. Am I wrong?" Taylor said in an interview with Arizona radio station 98KUPD Tuesday.

This response comes after Kroeger opened fire earlier this week about Taylor's bands Slipknot and Stone Sour in an interview with Metal Covenant when he said that Slipknot's decision to wear masks onstage was "gimmicky" and that Stone Sour was "Nickelback-lite."

"[Slipknot] had to put on masks and jump around. How good can your music be if you’ve gotta beat each other up onstage, throw up in your own mask every night?” Kroeger complained.

Taylor took umbrage with the insults and pointed out that Kroeger, his former labelmate — both Nickelback and Slipknot were on Roadrunner records — was voted "Ugliest Dude In Rock" twice.

"You can run your mouth all you want," Taylor said. "All I know is I’ve been voted ‘Sexiest Dude In Rock’ wearing a mask. You’ve been voted ‘Ugliest Dude In Rock’ twice without one."

The singer for Stone Sour and Slipknot commented that he didn't need to make many statements about the Nickelback singer because he is not a "liked person" after doing some research online.

"I don’t know what the h--- planet he’s living on," Taylor said. "Apparently, it’s Planet Kroeger... cuz he’s an idiot...I was so cued up to say some stuff about him, and then I just started reading all the comments online. I don’t have to say a damn thing. He is not a liked person," the singer continued.

Taylor was correct. Kroeger and his band were not well liked by critics and the public, and many have called them "the worst band ever." The band has received so much hatred that a study from 2017 was designed by Finnish student Salli Anttonen to try to decipher why the hate was so strong.

After compiling 14 years of data about the critical backlash against the band, Anttonen concluded that the band was, in a word, "generic."

"Nickelback is too much of everything to be enough of something," Anttonen wrote. "They follow genre expectations too well, which is seen as empty imitation, but also not well enough, which is read as commercial tactics and as a lack of a stable and sincere identity."

Additionally, the feud between Slipknot and Nickelback singers also prompted another throwback from the late-90s, early-2000s after Smash Mouth waded into the discussion Monday after being prompted on Twitter.
