A lot of people have become interested in Nikki Haley. There is an ongoing rumor that she could replace Vice President Mike Pence as the running mate of President Donald Trump in the upcoming elections.

Born Nimrata Randhawa, Nikki Haley made history as the first female Indian-American elected as U.S. governor. She served as South Carolina representative in 2004 and had three terms. Haley then ran as governor in 2010 and was re-elected four years later.

The former governor started her career in a waste management company. According to Biography.com, she worked in a business that was ran by her mother and later joined the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce. In 20014, she became the President of the National Association of Women Business Owners.

WealthyPersons estimates Haley’s net worth at around $4 million. As a governor of South Carolina, she earned at least $106,000 and received $179,600 as an ambassador to the United Nations. Aside from her salary as public servant, she gets royalty from a memoir she published in November 2019 called “With All Due Respect.”

A 2018 disclosure revealed that she has incurred a debt of more than $1 million, however. According to her financial disclosure form, she has exercised her line of credit worth $500,000. She also owes at least $250,000 as mortgage on her personal residence. Credit card debts are at $25,000 and $65,000. On top of that, she owes one bank over $1,000,000 for a rental property she owns, but reports suggest she has sold this property in 2018.

The 48-year-old was assigned as the United States ambassador to the United Nations in 2016. No less than President Trump endorsed her. The two actually had a rollercoaster political relationship. Haley initially did not support Trump in the 2016 election and instead supported Marco Rubio before eventually endorsing Ted Cruz.

When she resigned as ambassador in 2018, rumors suggested she would be running for a position in the 2020 elections. A lot of critics are claiming Trump would drop Pence and choose Haley as running mate because of her ties with Republican suburban women, per CNN.
