  • EA vows to offer more games for Nintendo Switch
  • EA has only released two titles for the Switch
  • More games could be added at EA Play Live 2020 in June

The Nintendo Switch has been catching up as far as gaming content is concerned. It was a problem the company had faced earlier on, usually tied up to compatibility and power dependency. Some gaming companies have since tried to tailor something for the switch, all that is except for Electronic Arts (EA). But it appears EA will be trying to make up for the lost time.

As of this writing, the only EA titles available for the Nintendo Switch include "Unravel 2" and Legacy versions of its annual "FIFA" series. But during a conference call in the Q4 2020 FY earnings, EA mentioned that they plan to release several games for the Switch. No numbers were given and so far, only one game was revealed. This is the "Burnout Paradise Remastered" and nothing followed, Game Spot reported.

Though it was not mentioned, there is the Legacy version of "FIFA 21." Factoring that in, that only accounts for two. Would there be more to follow?

Of course, EA can always pin the blame on the COVID-19. Nintendo itself admitted that they are struggling to cope up with the work-from-home setup, a reason why they have experienced delays in coming out with game titles for the Nintendo Switch. And for as long as lockdown restrictions are in place, EA will have an alibi for not holding up to its end of delivering more games for the Switch game console.

The game titles were shared by Gematsu on Twitter. Set to come out by the third quarter will be "NHL 21." Though it was broadly mentioned that EA would be releasing multiple titles, it did not say if the said game would also be available for the Nintendo Switch.

It would be best to consider as well that it is almost half of the year. On cue, EA is holding an EA Play Live 2020 event on June 11. There will be world premieres, news, and more happening on the said event. More information on the Nintendo Switch may be announced by then.

Some are already doing their speculation on what to expect. Among the titles suggested include "Star Wars: Project Maverick" or perhaps a sequel to "Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order." Another version of "Battlefield" or even "Anthem" could also be up. Considering these will be available on most consoles such as the PlayStation and the Xbox, the bigger question is whether there is one coming out for the Nintendo Switch.
