Nissan has issued a recall for over 300,000 SUVs over a defective hood that could cause them to pop open while driving, obstructing the driver’s view.

The recall affects 322,671 Pathfinder SUVs in the U.S. with model years between 2013 to 2016, NBC News reported. A total of 37,700 vehicles are also affected in Canada, but none of the impacted SUVs were sold in Japan, Reuters said.

The issue with the faulty hoods stems from dust build-up and dirt contamination that could cause the hoods to open without warning, according to NBC News. This could cause the drivers’ view of the impacted vehicles to be obstructed, increasing the risk of a crash.

Nissan said that only about 1% of recalled Pathfinder SUVs are defective. Repairs for the hood problem are currently under development, Nissan said, according to Reuters.

Recall notices will be mailed starting Wednesday. Questions about the recall can be directed to Nissan at 1-800-867-7669.
