A Northwestern University student has been charged with one count of criminal sexual assault of someone unable to consent after reportedly forcing himself on a fellow student.

The incident took place after 2 a.m. on March 16 when freshman Scott Thomas, 20, walked with the 18-year-old female before proceeding to have sex with what witnesses called her "lifeless" body, reports Patch. He has since been banned from the campus.

Camera surveillance reportedly showed the two walking together at around 1 a.m., and while at the time she was able to walk fine, she was later seen falling over. Kissing took place, but the victim later said she does not recall the incident at all. Prosecutors say that footage shows she tried removing Thomas' hand from her crotch.

Eventually, Thomas is said to have carried the young lady and lowered her pants and underwear as she fell down, and at one point held her against a glass door. He reportedly stopped when students saw what was taking place and walked up to him, at which point he pulled up his pants.

The woman was unable to fix her own pants, the witnesses said, and they called university police. She said that she had met Thomas at a soccer party but didn't really know him. She drank while there but didn't recall whom she left with or when she left.

Following the incident, she was examined at a hospital and had visible bruises, redness, and scratches on her arms, wrist, and upper lip, according to the Daily Mail.

Thomas's attorney, Northwestern law professor Jeff Urdangen, described the incident as an "unfortunate situation" of "drunken sex" and would "get sorted out as they go along," reports Patch.
