With award season in full swing, the biggest event of them all is less than a month away. The 89th Academy Awards will take place on Feb. 26, and the likely winners are starting to become more clear.

“La La Land” was the most critically acclaimed film of 2016 in many respects, and it has the best chance to stand out among the rest of the movies at the Oscars. It tied a record with 14 nominations, and it’s favored to win a few of the night’s most prestigious awards.

With 1/6 betting odds, “La La Land” remains the overwhelming favorite to win the award for best picture. Emma Stone is a 1/6 favorite, as well, to win for best actress for her role in the movie, and Damien Chazelle looks like a shoo-in to win for best director. Stone won the award at Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, and all three nominees were victorious at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards.

While previous award shows have affirmed the status of “La La Land” as the favorite in several categories, they’ve also helped other candidates emerge. After a successful run in January, “Moonlight” now has the second best odds to win for best picture.

“Manchester by the Sea” was once thought to be the biggest competition to “La La Land,” entering the Golden Globes as the favorite to win best motion picture drama. But “Moonlight” took home the victory, making it a legitimate threat at the 2017 Oscars.

Mahershala Ali of “Moonlight” won for outstanding performance by an actor in a lead role at the SAG awards, and he is one of the biggest favorites at the Academy Awards. The film is a 1/9 favorite to win for best adapted screenplay, totaling eight nominations.

“Hidden Figures” appears to have emerged as the dark horse candidate for best picture since it won for outstanding performance by a cast in a theatrical motion picture at the SAG awards. The film has three total nominations.

“Manchester by the Sea” hasn’t been as successful as previously predicted during award season. The movie has the fourth best odds to win for best picture, though Casey Affleck is the odds-on favorite to win for best actor. It has the same odds as “La La Land” to win for best original screenplay.
