Paramount Pictures has shared the trailer for "Sonic the Hedgehog 2," featuring Jim Carrey, who plays Doctor Eggman in the highly anticipated animated movie.

The trailer, which the production and distribution company tweeted Thursday, opens with Sonic, voiced by Ben Schwartz, overlooking Seattle from the top of a tall building while police sirens can be heard in the background.

Sonic then does a "quick stretch" and grabs a "little quick snack" before jumping off the building, seemingly preparing for a mission.

In the next scene, Sonic can be seen flying into a moving police van. He kicks the driver out so he can control the vehicle and catch the criminal the law enforcers are after. Amid the chase, he notices a woman in the middle of the road and manages to avoid her. He says, "Nobody's gonna get hurt."

Afterward, Sonic can be seen having a heart-to-heart conversation in a boat with Green Hills Sheriff Tom Wachowski, who is played by James Marsden.

"Pretending to be batman blue justice," Marsden tells Sonic, to which he replies, "Trademark pending."

Sonic also tells the officer, "I just got goosebumps."

In response, the sheriff says, "You're still just a kid, trust me, there will come a moment when your powers will be needed but you don't choose that moment that moment chooses you."

The next scene shows Green Hills being devastated by a huge cyclone. A spaceship makes it to the city, too, then Carrey, sporting a massive mustache, can be seen stepping out of it.

"Papa's got a brand new stash," he says, before adding, "Since I've been gone I discovered the source of ultimate power that sounds big it's been on my vision board for years hope I'm not too late."

The trailer ends with an intense battle between Knuckles and Sonic.

"Today's forecast calls for a 100% chance of adventure," Paramount Pictures noted in the caption. "Check out the new trailer for #SonicMovie2 and see it only in theatres April 8, 2022."

Though many people said the first installment of the movie wasn't that exciting, the sequel's trailer has been well-received.

A fan wrote, "Ok first one wasn't the best, but this looks awesome."

"My boy's speeding in terms of Action! April can't come soon enough," another supporter noted.

"Sonic the Hedgehog 2" is slated for release on April 8, 2022.
