Boston police reportedly killed a suspected shooter Friday allegedly responsible for wounding a parking attendant in a shooting outside Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Police said they were called around 9:30 a.m. about an active shooter situation after someone had reportedly been shot outside the hospital. The suspected shooter had already fled the scene before police arrived while the victim was rushed into the hospital for treatment.

Brigham and Women’s Hospital tweeted he victim was a parking attendant and he was in stable condition.

Officers pursued the suspect through the town of Brookline, outside of Boston. Boston police were joined by Massachusetts State Police, who issued an alert on their Twitter about an “active law enforcement incident.” The pursuit continued as the suspect’s vehicle reportedly crashed into several cars before the wheels came off and the suspect tried to flee on foot before a gunfight erupted.

“What I saw was police activity going both eastbound and westbound, converging police officers from multiple jurisdictions right by Star Market,” Brookline resident and retired Army Maj. Bob Kinder told reporters. “It was a bit surreal to hear a gunfight in Chestnut Hill.”

The gunfight continued until the suspect reportedly was hit several times and died on the scene. No officers or civilians were reported hurt during the exchange.
