A 30-year-old man in England has been sentenced to seven years in jail after sharing material depicting child sexual abuse and asking a mother if he could rape her minor daughters.

Dad-of-three Colin Waring, of Eastham, made the request during online chats with a woman named "Jennie" on Kik Messenger between April 30 and May 5 last year, the Liverpool Echo reported. However, Jennie was an undercover police officer, and her daughters weren't real.

During their online chats, Waring said he wanted Jennie to let him rape her eldest child “Emily,” who was supposedly 12, and her youngest daughter “Rachael” who was said to be 8 years old. He also sent Jennie an image of his penis with “Ped Dad” — short for pedophile dad — written on it.

In May 2020, Waring sent Jennie a video depicting the rape of a 4-year-old girl and a photo of a girl aged around 4 or 5 being sexually abused.

The man pleaded guilty to two counts of distributing indecent images of children after he was arrested and shown the evidence of his crimes. However, he denied two counts of intentionally encouraging the commission of an offense, namely the rape of a child under 13.

During his trial, Waring told a jury he was aware that it was an undercover officer he was talking to and claimed that the conversation was “fictional.”

His claim was branded false by prosecutor Frances Willmott, who said Waring had intended to carry out the two rapes.

Judge Murray told Waring that he had directed jurors not to convict him of the two charges unless they were sure "it was your intention to commit the offenses of rape of a child under 13."

"The jury were clearly sure that was your intention," the judge said.

The judge further said that if Waring had actually raped the two girls, he would have handed down a sentence of 11 years in prison. Judge Murray said he had to reduce this because there was no child actually involved.

Waring was sentenced to seven years in prison, with one year of supervised probation. He must serve at least half of his prison sentence before he would be eligible to apply for parole.

Waring was also ordered to sign on the Sex Offenders Register and to comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life.

Desmond Lennon, who represented Waring, said during the trial that there was "no real victim in the sense of the word" as the two daughters didn't actually exist.

"Having been a person as the court knows of hitherto good character prior to the onset of these proceedings, and having no experience of the criminal justice system in any way, shape or form, he now finds himself in a position of real jeopardy. The impact upon him will inevitably be of the greatest significance," Lennon said of Waring. "[Waring] will struggle to see [his three children] in the future and his future is bleak, to say the least."
