Pokémon Go parent company Niantic is expected to hold a Christmas event on Dec. 25, Slashgear reported Wednesday. During previous holiday-themed events, the company offered in-game bonuses and new Pokémon to players.

This time around, it is expected to finally release “Gen 2” Pokémon such as Baby Pikachu, Pichu, Espeon, Umbreon, Slowking and Blissey.

In addition to that, reports have hinted that Pokémon Go enthusiasts should start collecting Pidgey Pokémon since it is the Tiny Bird Pokémon that the newly-released Ditto mostly pretends to be, and is reportedly considered to be the "most effective source of XP in the whole Pokémon Go universe."

The Pokémon Go Christmas event might be similar to the recently held Thanksgiving and Halloween events as it might offer double XP and Stardust. But, it is also expected to bring more spawn to selected Pokémon including Staryu, Starme, Seel, Dewgong, Clefairy, Clefable and Snorlax. Snorlax is one of the toughest Pokémon to find in the game.

The December update might also feature the release of the legendary Pokémon like Zapdos, Articuno and Motres. In addition to that, the game might feature 100 Gen 2 Pokémon, player vs. player battles and Pokémon trading.

No confirmation from Niantic about the event is available yet.
