A one-year-old was killed on Wednesday in Washington D.C. and police are asking the public for help to catch the killer.

Authorities have been searching for the killer of 15-month-old Carmelo Duncan, and multiple departments are offering rewards up to $60,000 for those that have any information on who the gunman was.

The D.C. police department is offering up to $25,000, the Washington Field Divison of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tabacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is offering $25,000 and the Washington FBI is offering $10,000, which equals out to be $60,000, according to ABC News.

The police chief, Peter Newsham stated that they’re looking for a dark gray SUV with dark tinted windows. He added that it’s uncertain if that car was involved, but it was seen driving quickly away from the scene.

"We're going to do everything we possibly can to bring some justice to this little boy and his family," Newsham said.

The D.C. mayor, Muriel Bowser announced that anyone with any information should call 202-727-9099 or texting 50411.

The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. while Duncan was in a moving vehicle. He was struck multiple times and died after he was taken to the hospital.

No one else in the vehicle was injured.

While many shared their thoughts and prayers with the family on Twitter, this has opened the floor to a bigger conversation. Many are questioning when there’ll be more patrols around the city and more officers hired to stop these homicides.

This isn't the first time gun violence led to the death of a child in D.C. recently. There was an 11-year-old killed at a cookout over the summer and two years ago, a 10-year-old was shot and killed, according to Fox 5 DC.
