The royal baby’s birthday party is just one day away, but don’t expect to get a personal invite. Ahead of the first birthday of His Royal Highness Prince George Tuesday, July 22, the palace has confirmed details about the private celebration planned for young heir.

In keeping with reports that suggested the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, both 32, would keep their son's affair low-key, Us Weekly confirmed Sunday the festivities will indeed be an intimate occasion.

“The family is marking it privately with close family and friends,” a palace spokesman said.

Despite rumors the party would be held at the weekend home of Queen Elizabeth, Windsor Castle, the palace said the royal celebrations will instead take place at the little prince’s own home at Kensington Palace. “It will most likely be an indoor tea party that may extend to the garden if the weather remains glorious,” an insider told the magazine.

While the public is sure to be kept at a distance from the young royal during his birthday festivities, insiders report members of the royal family will be in attendance. Not only will Queen Elizabeth, Prince George’s great grandmother, make an appearance, William’s brother, Prince Harry, 29, is also set to show alongside members of Middleton’s family.

Two names not on the guest list? Prince William’s father, Prince Charles, and his wife, Duchess Camilla, will reportedly not be attending the affair due to previous engagements scheduled in Scotland.

William and Kate are not looking to spoil their son on his big day.

“George will be getting clothes and wooden toys from his mum and dad for his birthday,” said a source. “William and Kate don’t want to go overboard. He has been given so many gifts over the months and there’s only so much space to store them!”

Now Magazine was the first to report on Prince George’s birthday, via royal biographer, Marcia Moody, July 8.

“It will be a small, low-key celebration, similar to what their friends would throw for their children's first birthdays,” Moody told the magazine, going on to explain the affair would most likely include the consumption of many treats, including a cake made by Middleton’s brother, James Middleton, 27, the owner of The Cake Kit Co. in Berkshire, England.

“Kate won’t need to don her apron,” the report said.
