Prince George has a similar obsession with other kids.

On Tuesday, Prince William revealed what his eldest son with Kate Middleton is most interested in at the time. According to the Duke of Cambridge, 3-year-old Prince George is into dinosaurs.

"George is obsessed with dinosaurs. We've been learning all about them," Prince William said (via Hello!).

According to The Cut, the majority of parents notice that their children develop a keen interest in something between 2 and 6 years old. The most common interests are vehicles including planes, trains and cars. The second most popular is dinosaurs.

"I hear it over and over from parents," paleontologist Kenneth Lacovara who has an interest in dinosaurs since he was a boy confessed. "They know all the names! I don't know how they remember that stuff."

Lacovara also shared his theory about the children's intense interest in dinosaurs.

"I think for many of these children, that's their first taste of mastery, of being an expert in something and having command of something their parent or coach or doctor doesn't know," he explained.

"It makes them feel powerful. Their parent may be able to name three or four dinosaurs and the kid can name 20, and the kid seems like a real authority," he added.

Kelli Chen, a pediatric psychiatric occupational therapist, agreed with Lacovara's theory. According to her, dino obsession is among the ways children takes on a new subject that is familiar to them.

"Exploring a topic and mastering it is beneficial because that's how we form careers as adults. A kid's primary occupation is play, so they're going about their job of playing through the lens of this thing they're interested in learning about," she added.

In related news, Prince George has reportedly grown to be independent. The young prince wanted to do things on his own and had lost interest in playing with her 3-year-old sister, Princess Charlotte.

Prince George is "very independent now and not as interested in playing with Charlotte all the time," a source told People. "They are close, but George likes to go off and do his own thing."
