Prince Harry enjoyed his time in the army, which he served for 10 years. But at one point in his life, he had to make the difficult decision to leave the service.

After working his way up to the rank of captain, Prince Harry found himself at a crossroads where he had to choose between his work in the Army or his job as a member of the royal family. At that time, Her Majesty and Prince Philip were already passing on some important duties to their younger relatives.

During a previous interview, the Duke of Sussex admitted to juggling his work in the Army and the Royal Family. But he also said that he soon realized that the setup wouldn’t have worked long-term.

“It is a crossroads. I’m in the same position now as most people in my year group or my rank would be in and most of the guys I joined with have left for numerous reasons… It is the case that if we move on them more responsibilities come and I suppose with wanting to take on slightly more of this royal role I don’t really feel as though I would be in the right position to take on the careers of more soldiers and to take on the responsibility to fly, for instance,” he said.

Meghan Markle’s husband admitted to trying to find a balance between his two duties for six months but he eventually realized that it would be very difficult. Prince Harry said that as one climbs up the ranks, more desk jobs will be given. After this, the next step is to go to staff college and become a major.

All of these things come with great responsibilities that he knew he couldn’t do. Prince Harry said that he didn’t want other people to cover for him that’s why he realized it was never going to work.

At present, Prince Harry is focused solely on his royal duties, which includes heading charities that are close to his heart.
