Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared content with their decision to step back from their senior royal duties. However, a body language expert suspects the Duke of Sussex has an issue with connecting with Queen Elizabeth amid the “change in his status.”

Following Prince Harry and Meghan’s exit from the royal family, the couple was prohibited from using the “Royal Sussex” name and lost a majority of their royal privileges. Now that Prince Harry is no longer considered a working royal, it appears his status change has left him feeling uncomfortable around his family.

Body language expert Patti Wood shared her interpretation of a photo of Queen Elizabeth taking her seat in front of Harry at the Commonwealth Day service. “The Queen is looking down and not looking at them, and Meghan is smiling,” she told Marie Claire.

“I would say that’s fairly genuine because it’s made along with eye contact,” Wood added.

The “Snap: Making the Most of First Impressions, Body Language, and Charisma” author claimed that Meghan appeared comfortable despite the tensions within the royal family.

“If you look at her hand, she’s holding on to the paper, but you notice how relaxed her fingers are, and how open the fingers are. She’s not tensely holding the paper. It’s very relaxed. That says that she’s fine. She’s okay. It’s all good.” she explained.

Whereas Prince Harry was struggling to feel at ease during the moment. “But when you go to him, if you look, his head is downcast, and he’s trying. He’s looking at his grandma. If you look at the eyebrows in that photo, it’s concerned,” Wood said.

“It’s more you wouldn’t know he’s the grandson in that photo—you would think he was some sort of subservient in a greater way,” she added

Wood claimed Prince Harry’s body language was a result of his new sense of independence. “It shows a change in his status, his feelings. It’s not negative. It’s just revealing," she explains.

Although Prince Harry and Meghan are attempting to distance themselves from the royal family, the couple, and their son Archie, are expected to visit Queen Elizabeth at her Balmoral estate over the summer.
