Prince Philip has never forgiven Sarah Ferguson for the scandal she brought to the royal family.

The Duchess of York was loved by the members of the Firm when Prince Andrew introduced her to them because of her bubbly attitude. In fact, at one point, Prince Charles reportedly told Princess Diana why she couldn’t be like Ferguson.

However, the duchess’ relationship to the royals changed following her infamous scandal with her financial advisor John Bryan. The two were photographed with the latter sucking her toes. The Duke of Edinburgh couldn’t forgive her after that incident.

“Up until that point, she had enjoyed warm rapport with her father-in-law but from that moment on the Duke of Edinburgh never forgave Sarah for the embarrassment and the humiliation that she had reaped,” royal expert Katie Nicholl said on Channel 5’s “The Royal Family at War.”

“Sarah was never welcomed at Balmoral again, she was never welcomed at Christmas with the Royal Family again. She was an outcast.”

Princess Diana’s former bodyguard Ken Wharfe also shared his thoughts about the incident. For him, Prince Philip found Ferguson’s antics within her marriage to Prince Andrew one of those “difficult royal pills to swallow.” Also, this is his other way to protect his wife, Queen Elizabeth II.

“He [Prince Philip] doesn’t like other people bringing the Queen into disrepute,” Wharfe explained.

Ferguson blamed herself for their strained relationship. In one of her interviews, the duchess recalled how the royals posed together for Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s official wedding photographs.

For the first time, Ferguson and Prince Philip were seen together. Prince Andrew’s ex confessed that she was happy about their reunion and said that she still has huge respect for Prince Philip and she has always admired him.

Ferguson added that it was “very good to be with him again.” She also recalled how her father and Prince Philip used to play polo together and their reunion brought back some memories.

Ferguson still struggles to win Prince Philip’s forgiveness. However, she has already reconnected with Queen Elizabeth II.

According to Anna Pasternak, the Queen is a “huge fan” of Ferguson’s and has an “enormous affection” for the Duchess of York. The royal expert believes that chances are high for royal fans to see more of Ferguson within the inner sanctum of the royal family.
