Prince William and Prince Harry should have separated years ago, according to one source.

The palace recently announced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are splitting their household from that of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will now be based at Buckingham Palace. On the other hand, Prince William and Kate Middleton will remain at Kensington Palace.

Many thought that the separation of the two households was due to their rumored feud. However, royal experts believe that their decision was right, and it was actually what was expected from them.

“A lot of people expected this move to potentially happen before the wedding or after the wedding,” royal commentator Lizzie Robinson told The Royal Rota. “The fact that we’re nearly a year on, it sort of makes sense to do it now they’re having their own children. They are future-proofing. They’re getting ready for the next move up.”

ITV Royal Editor Chris Ship shared the same opinion. According to him, as a nation, many are “probably guilty of thinking of the brothers themselves as a couple.” For him, Prince William and Prince Harry’s split actually happened “later than it does for most siblings.”

Princess Diana and Prince Charles' sons are already in their 30s, and it’s normal for them to live and work separately. It’s understandable that they don’t want to live on top of each other.

Back in October, there were already reports about the Duke of Sussex and Duke of Cambridge considering a "formal division" as their families have grown. They have leaned on each other and looked after each other following Princess Diana’s untimely demise, but they no longer rely on each other as much as before.

Sheela Mackintosh-Stewart said that Prince Harry no longer needs his big brother Prince William’s constant support now that he has Markle by his side. In addition, Prince William doesn’t feel the need to continue looking after his younger sibling.

Despite their split, the two brothers’ relationship remains strong. In fact, Prince William reportedly defended Prince Harry and Markle in a dispute with Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles.

The monarch and heir reportedly wanted to limit the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s budget for their communication team as they are not entitled to it. Prince William convinced them to give the couple more money to start their own team.
