Princess Diana used to do everything for her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

During one of her public appearances with a young Prince Harry, the late Princess of Wales lovingly offered her fingers for her son to suck on. A photo of Princess Diana cradling Prince Harry in her arms was reposted on Instagram recently.

In the snap, the mom of two is wearing a pink floral dress while Prince Harry is wrapped in a brownish gold attire. Princess Diana is looking at Prince Harry adoringly before she gives him her pinky finger. Prince Harry quickly sucked on to it.

As of late, it is still unclear why Princess Diana did the gesture during what looked like an interview. But it is possible that she didn’t want her newborn son to make a fuss in front of photographers. Still, it doesn’t explain why Princess Diana just didn’t give her son a milk bottle.

In another photo taken during the same moment, Prince Charles is standing beside Princess Diana and Prince Harry. He is looking at his son while he’s sucking his mom’s finger. Prince Charles has a huge smile on his face and Princess Diana also looks happy at that moment.

It was quite rare to see Prince Charles and Princess Diana laughing together in public or even in photos. In fact, when their portrait was taken three years after Prince Harry’s birth, the couple looked as awkward as ever.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana could barely smile in the snap, and they were also positioned a few inches away from each other. Prince Charles and Princess Diana didn’t hold each other in the portrait. Rather, Princess Diana placed her hands on her thighs, and Prince Charles placed his hand on his staff.

Princess Diana passed away on Aug. 31, 1997, following a fatal car crash in Paris. The mom of two divorced Prince Charles one year earlier.
