Princess Margaret would have never forgiven Princess Diana even if they are still alive at the moment, according to book author Craig Brown.

Brown, who penned the book “Ninety-Nine Glimpses of Princess Margaret,” told Fox News that he was able to speak to some of Princess Margaret’s friends who were willing to talk about Queen Elizabeth II’s late sister.

“Her contemporaries are still alive and their attitudes have changed… And that era is now gone,” he said.

In 1995, Princess Diana gave an interview to BBC regarding the fallout of her marriage to Prince Charles. Upon hearing this, Princess Margaret thought that it was the ultimate act of betrayal to the royal family.

“Margaret was very unforgiving. She wouldn’t even have magazines with Diana’s face on the cover nearby. She would turn them over. And she wouldn’t let her children talk to her. These were all royals living in Kensington Palace. But if you crossed swords with Princess Margaret, she was a very unforgiving type. Even if Diana had lived for another 30 years, she wouldn’t have spoken to her,” Brown said.

Princess Diana and Prince Charles divorced in 1996, and the Princess of Wales died a year later. Brown said Princess Margaret never forgave the mom of two even in her death. Unlike the other members of the royal family that bowed their heads as Princess Diana’s coffin passed, Princess Margaret simply offered the most cursory of nods.

“Almost as though she were warding off a fly. She also didn’t like the flag being lowered to half mast,” Brown said.

When Princess Margaret learned that there were talks about giving Princess Diana a statue outside Kensington Palace, she disproved of it.

“She said, ‘I’m not having that woman outside my bedroom window.’ She was a very difficult woman,” Brown said.

Meanwhile, Brown also confirmed that Princess Margaret loved to drink and smoke. Her favorite alcohol is vodka and wine.

“She certainly smoked a lot. She was famous for these long cigarette holders, which she would use as a weapon,” Brown said.
