  • Sony said the gaming system will handle user-generated gameplay advice using a "Virtual Coordinate System"

PlayStation 5, the newly released gaming system from Sony, will likely introduce a new feature that allows players to leave audio and text notes for others.

PS5 boasts of a next-generation gaming experience for players and the Japanese company has said it will regularly update the console to optimize the gaming experience further.

A patent application filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office ( USPTO ) in September, and made public on Sunday, reveals that Sony Interactive Entertainment is working on a new technology that enables its players to communicate with other players through filtered messages in image, text or audio formats. Additionally, it shows players can now leave messages and notes for others on specific areas or during specific events. This may sound familiar to "Death Stranding," the "Dark Souls" notes system or "Super Mario Maker 2."

The feature could be very handy, especially for players looking for clues to complete a particular level in a challenging game. Additionally, the gaming system will handle user-generated gameplay advice available within a game space using a "Virtual Coordinate System," the patent application revealed. The company believes this will help enhance the user experience.

The PS5 gaming console already features a Game Help, which provides real-time tips and tricks to players. The patent mentioned that the feature will be available for players, including "top rated players", which could mean it is to help streamers and popular gamers leave their mark on the in-game space, GamesRadar reported.

Though Sony Interactive Entertainment has filed the patent, it does not guarantee that these features will be introduced to the PS5 soon. Tech giants like Sony have a habit of filing for patents, which most of the time, ends up just on paper and do not see a commercial launch.
