Queen Elizabeth II gave Meghan Markle a longer screen time than Kate Middleton in her 2018 video highlights.

There have been rumors that the Queen prefers the Duchess of Sussex than the Duchess of Cambridge. In her 2018 video highlights on Instagram, the monarch shared the members of the royal family and what they did last year.

According to Thomas Mackie, a journalist for Express, Middleton is “hardly seen” in the clip. On the other hand, there were more photos featuring Markle.

Her Majesty’s video highlights included Queen Elizabeth II and Markle’s first official outing together. The pair visited Chester to officially unveil a new bridge in Widnes, Cheshire. The Queen also opened the Storyhouse Theatre in the same visit. In the snap, Queen Elizabeth II and Markle can be seen sitting beside each other while giggling.

Aside from that snap, there were several pictures taken during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal wedding. There were also clips of Prince Harry and Markle’s Commonwealth tour and other outings. Another shot featured Markle during her visit to the Hubb Community Kitchen in London.

In addition, there were also several shots of the Duchess of Cambridge in the Queen’s 2018 video highlights. It included Prince William and Middleton making Prince Louis’ public debut, the couple hosting a Christmas party in Cyprus and more.

If one counts Markle and Middleton’s photos in the video, Markle has indeed more shots than Middleton. This could be due to a number of factors including Prince Harry and Markle’s royal wedding. The said occasion was among the most popular and awaited events last year.

Also, another factor could be due to Middleton taking a six-month maternity leave last year. The Duchess of Cambridge turned away from the spotlight from April to October. Middleton gave birth to her youngest son in April but didn’t return to her royal duties until October.

Prince William’s wife made her first engagement after her maternity leave at the Sayers Croft Forest School and Wildlife Garden. Kensington Palace released a separate 2018 video highlights for Prince William, Middleton, Prince Harry and Markle. However, eagle-eyed royal fans immediately noticed that the palace made a slight error when it indicated that Middleton made her first engagement after her maternity leave in September.
