There is something Queen Elizabeth II loves about Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

According to royal experts, the Queen’s favorite royal is Sophie, Countess of Wessex. There are a lot of reasons why Her Majesty loves her daughter-in-law and one of it is the way she manages her royal husband, Express reported.

According to an insider, the Queen “knows that is in no small way down to Sophie’s dedication - she is aware, as his Edward’s mother, what a tricky creature he can be.”

Prince Edward was involved in several controversies before. The Earl of Wessex found himself at odds with his big brother Prince Charles when he broke a filming embargo on Prince William.

The Prince of Wales banned the media from following his son when he attended St. Andrews. However, Prince Edward surprised many when his media company, Ardent, was spotted filming a documentary at the university town.

Prince Charles was furious after learning what Prince Edward’s company did. Meanwhile, Prince Philip, Sophie and Prince Edward reportedly felt aggrieved after the future king put them in a bad light.

Prince Edward made another poor decision when he urged the other royals to appear on “It’s a Royal Knockout.” Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson agreed to join him on the show where they dressed up and mocked about with a selection of stars including Meat Loaf, Anthony Andrews, Kevin Kline, Mel Smith, Billy Connolly and George Lazenby. However, Queen Elizabeth II and the Queen Mother were not pleased after seeing them on TV.

According to royal biographer Ingrid Seward, the matter remained a sensitive topic for Sophie’s husband.

”Its a Royal Knockout remains a sensitive subject with Prince Edward,” Seward wrote in her book “Prince Edward.” “When I mentioned the programme to him I happened to call it ‘disastrous’. In a voice edged with irritation, he quickly interposed: ‘It wasn’t disastrous.’”

Prince Edward was the only child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip whose first marriage was considered a success. Prince Charles, Princess Anne and Prince Andrew all divorced their first spouses. According to body language expert Judi James, the success of their marriage is “largely down to Sophie.”
