It has been a rough year for the royal family, and it appears all of the scandals that have been unfolding may finally be taking their toll on Queen Elizabeth.

The year has been marked by endless negative press surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and now, adding to the struggles, Queen Elizabeth is facing backlash for her continued support of Prince Andrew after what was declared to be a disastrous interview when it came to his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. As a result, everything is beginning to get to Her Majesty, and it hasn’t helped her that her husband, Prince Philip, who is retired from public life, stays at Sandringham, while she is still in London.

A source told the Sun that everything is beginning to weigh on the Queen, who has had to weather through every scandal and storm.

“The Queen is under strain. She’s telling everyone she’s fine because that’s what she does,” the source said. “But she’s 93 and it’s obvious this is going to take a real toll, so everyone is incredibly concerned.”

The source went on to reveal that it’s a big change from just two years ago when everything seemed to be at a high for the royal family and that it doesn’t seem fair for the Queen to have to handle this all now after her long reign.

“A couple of years ago she seemed very content. Charles and Camilla were sorted, William and Kate were doing well and then harry finding a wife. But now her problems are piling up, both inside and outside the family,” the source said. “She’s trying to hold a country together post-Brexit and the Scottish Independence referendum.”

“And now the crisis over Prince Andrew follows all the heartache over her grandsons,” they continued. “It’s certainly going to be a strange Christmas for her—and does she really deserve this after all she’s done?”

The source went on to reveal that 2019 has been shaping up to be the next coming of the Queen’s infamous annus horribilis, which happened in 1992 and saw three of her children embroiled in scandals as Princess Anne divorced and remarried in that year, while Prince Andrew and Prince Charles famously separated from Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York and Princess Diana respectively. This year, however, has been marked by Prince Philip’s car crash, the alleged rift between Princes Harry and William, continued scandals regarding Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, the drama surrounding Prince Andrew and a lack of support for Prince Charles as he continues trying to step up his role as the heir to the throne.

Now, following Prince Andrew’s interview, which was panned due to his seeming to show no remorse for Epstein’s alleged victims and claiming he did not have sex with Virginia Giuffre due to a bizarre medical condition, the Queen is allegedly in her worst state yet.

On top of that, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have further courted controversy with the announcement they would be skipping the holidays with the rest of the family altogether, with claims that the former actress isn’t actually “comfortable” with her in-laws.
