Queen Elizabeth II wants to have a relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son Archie.

The monarch wants to be part of the life of Prince Harry’s son. Thus, it’s painful for her that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are returning to the U.K. without their baby.

“The queen would love to have a relationship with Archie, but it’s looking unlikely that will ever happen,” a source told Us Weekly.

“The queen’s worst fear is that she may never see Archie again. She’s trying to stay optimistic about this situation and would never stoop to casting any aspersions on Meghan’s character – even after everything that’s happened.”

There are speculations that the Sussexes have a rift with the monarch after the latter banned them from using “Sussex Royal” as their brand. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were reportedly “humiliated and furious” following the monarch’s decision and they are plotting revenge against the Queen using Archie.

Queen Elizabeth II allegedly asked them to come home with their son. However, Markle has no plans to bring Archie along when they return to the U.K.

“Meghan is aware of the public opinion toward her and wants it to look like she’s toeing the line by agreeing to go to these royal events. But she hasn’t said anything about bringing Archie, even though he’s who everyone – especially the Queen and Prince Charles -- really wants to see. She has no issue keeping him away until they bend to her wishes. A baby bargaining chip, if you will,” an insider said.

Queen Elizabeth II’s former secretary Dickie Arbiter also commented after learning that the Sussexes are not bringing Archie along with them. According to him, it would be a “great pity” if they would not take Archie considering that Prince Harry’s grandparents are aging and would not be given the chance to see the baby.

Prince Harry and Markle usually prefer to leave Archie at home. They left Archie in Canada when they returned to the U.K. after their Christmas break and before they dropped their bombshell announcement. They also traveled to the U.S. without Archie for business ventures when they appeared at a JP Morgan event.
