In the bogus list of celebrities that unreliable tabloids have tried to romantically link with actress Jennifer Aniston, post-divorce with Justin Theroux, the latest entry is actor Johnny Depp. However, this time too, the rumor bears no semblance of truth.

The latest rumor was concocted by Woman’s Day Australia which claimed that Aniston had asked her friends to set up a date with Depp, as she was reportedly ready to move on from her fling with Leonardo DiCaprio, the last person rumored to be dating her.

“She’s always found him [Depp] cute,” an anonymous source told the tabloid. “They’ve run into each other a bunch of times in the past and always gotten on great.”

The questionable insider further claimed the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor’s acrimonious divorce from Amber Heard did not bother Aniston, nor did his former spouse’s allegations of domestic abuse made against Depp.

“Jen feels Johnny’s had a terrible run of bad luck and, like her, he chose his long-term partners extremely badly,” the tipster added. “Jen is actively looking for a guy. She wants a boyfriend who doesn’t mind being trailed by her bodyguard all the time and who isn’t intimidated by her fame.”

In reality, none of the stories are true. Firstly, the “Titanic” actor has never dated the “Friends” star. Rumors of the fake romance between the two stars started when Aniston attended DiCaprio’s 44th birthday party in Los Angeles.

The fact is that the actor was dating model Camila Morrone for nearly a year and things were allegedly getting serious in their relationship. While Morrone did not show up for DiCaprio’s party last month, the couple were seen spending considerable time together in Los Angeles and France recently.

In fact, another false report at the time claimed Aniston was caught flirting with Jennifer Lopez’s boyfriend Alex Rodriguez, which was debunked. Hence, the budding romance between the actress and DiCaprio was similarly untrue.

As for Aniston wanting to date Depp, the rumor is not new. Last month, Globe – another untruthful tabloid – tried to put together a similar story, claiming the actress was attracted to Depp’s “bad-boy image” and “dark side.” At the time, Gossip Cop reached out to Aniston’s rep, who rubbished the story, confirming that Aniston was not interested in dating anyone at present.

An insider told People magazine in September: “She [Aniston] isn’t concerned about dating. She is happy to focus on work.”

In fact, Aniston has herself opened up about how tired she was to be painted in a negative light by celebrity gossip magazines after her divorce from Theroux back in February.

“It’s pretty crazy,” she said in an interview for InStyle's September issue. “The misconceptions are ‘Jen can’t keep a man,’ and ‘Jen refuses to have a baby because she’s selfish and committed to her career.’ Or that I’m sad and heartbroken. First, with all due respect, I’m not heartbroken. And second, those are reckless assumptions. No one knows what’s going on behind closed doors. No one considers how sensitive that might be for my partner and me. They don’t know what I’ve been through medically or emotionally.”
