Red Velvet's Wendy held a showcase Monday to commemorate the release of her solo mini-album "Like Water" and gave fans an insight into the concept and meaning behind it.

Shon Seung-Wan, known professionally as Wendy, is a South Korean singer who made her debut as a member of the girl group Red Velvet in 2014 under SM Entertainment.

Apart from the release of her first solo mini-album, the 27-year-old idol launched the music video of her song which is also called "Like Water."

Wendy honestly shared her thoughts on her solo album during the event. She said that, unlike her group activities where she portrays the color of Red Velvet, she had tried to bring out "her own color" of music through "Like Water."

"This is my first solo album, so when I first heard of it, I couldn't believe it. It only felt real after I started the process of working on the album. I felt like I had a greater sense of responsibility, so I did my best to make music that contained my voice and my emotions," she added as per Soompi.

Wendy also talked about the support she was getting from her fellow girl group members.

"The members always sent me messages of support and helped monitor my work. It gave me a sense of comfort, trust, and strength. They brought a whole bunch of snacks to the music video set and helped monitor me. I was grateful to them for being so dependable," she said.

The singer also explained the concept behind some of the songs in her album and expressed her gratitude to her fans.

"This entire album resembles my story and it has a warm emotional vibe. I wanted to help people relate to and gain comfort from my voice. 'When This Rain Stops' is about my story. It took about 15 hours to record," she said further. "Our fans waited for me for a long time. I wanted to share my gratitude to them for the love I received, so I chose it as one of my title tracks. 'Like Water' is about sharing sympathy and comfort for the future, so it's a bit different."

While talking about her duet track titled "Best Friend" featuring Seulgi, Wendy added that it was originally a solo track but she later decided to invite Seulgi to sing with her.

"It's a song that shows one's gratitude for a friend and one's feelings toward that friend," Wendy revealed, according to Soompi.

She concluded the showcase by saying, "It's my first solo album since my debut, so I'm not hoping for too much. I just want to share comfort and emotion with many people through my voice. I hope that I can become an artist that many people relate to. I'll sing with a happy heart for the people who waited for me for a long time, so please look forward to it."

Not long after its release, "Like Water" dominated the iTunes Top Album charts in 30 regions around the world including the U.S., Australia, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Peru and more.
