Capcom has brought good news to fans of the “Resident Evil” franchise who own the Nintendo Switch console. The Japanese video game developer and publisher has just announced that the “Resident Evil Revelations” games are coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Release Date

The “Resident Evil Revelations” games are scheduled for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Aug. 29. Following which, the two will head to the Nintendo Switch in late 2017. The specific date has yet to be disclosed by Capcom.

The first “Resident Evil Revelations” game was released for the Nintendo 3DS back in early 2012. It featured a story about Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield’s adventure when they were made to investigate on the abandoned Queen Zenobia cruise ship. The game spawned a sequel, which was launched in 2015. The second installment focused on Claire Redfield and Barry Burton, Eurogamer reports.

Capcom has continuously ported the game to every new gaming machine. For example, after the first game debuted on the Nintendo 3DS, it was released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. After the PC version, the game is now ready for newer console release on the PS4 and Xbox One. There’s no confirmation yet if the games are also coming to the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X.

What’s New?

The new ports of “Resident Evil Revelations” are going to feature “a smoother 1920 x 1080 resolution, an improved framerate, increased environmental detail and refined creature movement.” PS4 and Xbox One players are also getting all of the previously released DLC and unlockable rewards for the games, as pointed out by Polygon.

The games’ Raid Mode also comes with “The Ghost Ship: Chaos,” which is said to be a new take on the stage. It features more powerful weapons and changes to the enemies’ placement.

More Capcom Games For Nintendo Switch

The announcement that “Resident Evil Revelations” games are coming to the Nintendo Switch comes just days after it was revealed that Capcom could be preparing more games for Nintendo’s newest console. This was speculated by The Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki, who took to Twitter last Friday to reveal that “Ultra Street Fighter II” exceeded expectations in terms of sales.

“Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers” sold over 450,000 copies during the first quarter, and the figure reportedly exceeded Capcom’s estimates for the title. In its official earnings report, Capcom stated that the game “made an excellent start and proved to be a smash hit.”

Due to the unprecedented success of the “Street Fighter” game for the Nintendo Switch, Capcom has reportedly decided to prepare more games for the new console. However, it isn’t clear if Capcom only intends to port some of its past games to the Switch, or if it is planning to create new games, according to Game Informer.
