Kristen Stewart became enmeshed in a scandal after she was snapped getting cozy with Rupert Sanders, the director of “Snow White and the Huntsman” and married father of two. Stewart immediately issued a gushing public apology to her boyfriend of three years, Robert Pattinson, via People but the chances of the couple getting back together seemed unlikely.

Yet over the last few weeks, rumors of reconciliation between the two have been rampant. Several major outlets are asserting (via inside sources) that Robsten is once again and item.

A source purportedly told E! News that though the pair has not been photographed together since the Teen Choice Awards on July 22, they’ve been meeting in secret. People magazine also claims to have inside information on their relationship status.

“According to an insider, the ‘Twilight’ hunk's pals ‘think they'll be a couple again,’” reports the mag.

According to US Weekly, a source informed them that Pattinson and Stewart are “working it out," adding that Pattinson is “still in love with her."

On Sunday, The Sun claimed to have the scoop on their relationship status.

A source allegedly told the site, “They pretty much decided they couldn’t live without each other. Kristen poured her heart out to Robert and told him it was a one-off and a mistake. Rob can see how truly sorry Kristen is and has totally forgiven her. They really do love each other.”
The story was picked up by multiple outlets, including FOX News, The Daily News, and the Huffington Post.

Last week, Lainey Gossip reported that while Stewart was promoting “On the Road” at the Toronto Film Festival, it became clear that she and Pattinson were on the mend.

“It was communicated to people during TIFF that they are [back together] but they're worried about how it might affect his career, like whether or not there will be some kind of crazy backlash…,” a source told the site.

Either someone close to them is leaking information to several major outlets or the two have multiple acquaintances who are all sharing their private details with the world. Either way, there’s no proof that “Twilight” stars are a couple again.

As the Daily Beast points out, the two are currently preparing for a global “Breaking Dawn: Part 2” promotional tour—which may be an incentive to reconcile.

“…the couple may have punched a one-way ticket back to happiness. Or, you know, they might just be doing work-related stuff for the ‘Twilight’ film franchise finale, which releases in November,” says the site.

Celebitchy notes that the couple’s alleged reunion may have been manufactured by the “Twilight” PR team: “I can feel the ‘studio-arranged PR romance’ conspiracy theory being dusted off and everything old is new again.”

“Given that the entertainment media has been talking about almost nothing else over the summer other than their relationship status, this could be the biggest marketing coup for their forthcoming film,” reports Contact Music.

Since news of the affair between Stewart and Sanders broke, the actress has been subjected to ridicule that some have deemed unfair. She has been branded a “home wrecker” by FOX News and according to Jezebel, several Pattinson fans threatened her life on Twitter.

Yana Tallon-Hicks of the Valley Advocate believes that “Twihards (most notably those that revel in the availability of ‘Kristen Stewart is a Trampire’ shirts) are forming a slut-shaming army…”

“The way the media reported this cheating scandal was unfair and sexist on her end,” said The Daily Sundial’s Jacqueline Kalisch. “They focused more on what she did instead of what they did together. The angle that entertainment news articles took cornered Stewart’s womanhood and left Sander’s manhood untouched.”
