Warner Bros. finally officially announced the roles Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard will have in Christopher Nolan's third Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises.

It was announced several weeks ago that the two actors would join the project, yet it was not made public what their roles would be. Speculation has been circulating the Internet, but those rumors turned out to be very wrong.

Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a cop working under Commissioner Gordon who is assigned to special duty presumably in response to something that happens in the film. There were rumors floating around that he would play Alberto Falcone who is better known as The Holiday Killer.

Cotillard will also play a new character named Miranda Tate. She is a member of the Wayne Enterprises board and hopes to help Bruce Wayne overcome his grieving and continue his philanthropic endeavors around Gotham. It has been previously speculated that she would be playing Talia ah Ghul.

The Dark Night Rises also stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman. Production for the movie will begin this summer in Pittsburgh.
