  • Guillermo del Toro praised Rupert Grint’s performance in Apple’s “Servant”
  • The “Harry Potter” alum has joined the cast of del Toro’s upcoming anthology series “Cabinet of Curiosities”
  • Grint will appear alongside F. Murray Abraham, Essie Davis, Andrew Lincoln and Ben Barnes, among many others

Rupert Grint has landed a role in Netflix’s upcoming anthology series from director and screenwriter Guillermo del Toro.

The 33-year-old English actor’s involvement in the project, titled “Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities,” was exclusively announced by Deadline Tuesday.

Grint will be joining a star-studded cast that includes Luke Roberts, F. Murray Abraham, Essie Davis, Ben Barnes, Andrew Lincoln, Glynn Turman and Hannah Galway. Also starring are Demetrius Grosse, Elpidia Carrillo, Tim Blake Nelson, Crispin Glover, Peter Weller and Sebastian Roché.

The “Harry Potter” star has been on the Mexican filmmaker’s radar since he starred in Apple’s “Servant.” Del Toro previously raved about Grint’s performance in the TV series, even saying that the actor almost stole the show with his role, according to the outlet.

It’s not surprising that del Toro tapped Grint to be part of his horror anthology since Deadline noted that the filmmaker personally chose the talents who will work on the series, which will feature two of his original works.

The big project will be executive produced by del Toro, who is also acting as co-showrunner. Panos Cosmatos, Vincenzo Natali and Jennifer Kent are writing and directing the episodes of the series, which will feature “eight unprecedented and genre-defining sinister narratives meant to challenge traditional notions of horror, ranging from the macabre to magical, gothic to grotesque or classically creepy,” according to Variety.

Prior to the official announcement this week, Daily Mail already leaked earlier this month that Grint had been spotted on the set of the anthology series in Ontario, Canada. The outlet shared snaps of the actor sporting a brown wool coat and carrying suitcases on the outdoor set at the time.

Apart from “Cabinet of Curiosities,” Grint will be seen next in “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts,” which is set to hit the HBO Max streaming service on Jan. 1.

Grint recently made headlines after his former co-star Tom Felton shared a snap with him, Bonnie Wright and James Phelps on social media when they reunited to film the special project in secret, according to Entertainment Tonight.

In his Instagram post, Felton joke that his character in the “Harry Potter” films, Draco Malfoy, secretly wanted to be a redhead just like Grint and Wright, who played Ron and Ginny Weasley, respectively. Phelps, who had to dye his hair for the films since he’s not a natural redhead, agreed with Felton’s caption in the comments section.
