Ryan Gosling is a hero in New York, once again, after saving a woman's life on Tuesday. And the lucky lady wasted no time in writing about it, taking to Twitter moments after the incident.

I literally, LITERALLY just got saved from a car by Ryan Gosling. Literally. That actually just happened, Laurie Penny (@PennyRed) wrote.

Penny, who identifies herself on Twitter as a journalist who has written for publications like The Independent, Al-Jazeera and The Nation, added that the actor did not say Hey Girl (click here if you are not familiar with this meme), He said, 'hey, watch out!'

I was crossing 6th avenue in a new pink wig. Not looking the right way because I am from London. Ryan Gosling grabbed me away from a taxi, she continued.

So how did Penny know it was in fact Ryan Gosling, New York City's unofficial hero of 2011?

Identity of no-idea-if-actually-a-manarchist-but-definitely-a-decent-sort Ryan Gosling confirmed by girl near me, who said 'you lucky bi*ch,' Penny clarified.

Since her encounter with the heroic Gosling, who recently wrapped filming in Thailand, Penny has moved beyond water cooler levels.

EVERYBODY NEEDS TO CALM DOWN ABOUT RYAN GOSLING NOW . . . No seriously. My phone and email have been going crazy with media requests all night and all morning and it's getting silly now, Penny wrote Wednesday morning.

Gosling, of course, was deemed an instant hero last summer when he stopped a street fight in the East Village neighborhood of New York City. While crossing the street near Astor Place, Gosling noticed a fight between two men over a painting. A few words later, Gosling escorted the entire party off the road, as cars drove by and bystanders squealed.

A video of the altercation has since received more than 1.1 million views on YouTube.

I'm embarrassed . . . I think that guy really was stealing that other guy's painting, so I should have just kept my nose out of it . . . the guy from 'The Notebook' shows up and makes it weirder . . . I had just come from the gymnasium, and I was all stretched out and feeling warmed up. So, I'm embarrassed, Gosling confessed to MTV News of the incident weeks later.
