Samsung is expected to give its Galaxy phones the Android 8.0 Oreo treatment very soon starting with the flagship devices, the Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Note 8. While the anticipation for the release of the software update intensifies, information on its new features are spreading online.

This Monday, SamMobile found out after performing a teardown that the Android 8.0 Oreo version that Samsung is rolling out to its Galaxy smartphones will have a unique take on how screenshots are named. Compared to the conventional way of naming screenshots, Samsung’s Oreo automatically mentions the name of the app from which the screenshot was taken.

When taking a screenshot in the YouTube app of a Samsung Android Oreo-running smartphone, the file that will be saved is named “Screenshot_YouTube” plus the date and time of when the screenshot was captured. On the other hand, taking a screenshot of the home screen or app drawer will automatically name the file “Screenshot_Samsung Experience Home.”

While most users won’t find this tweaked feature beneficial, it will be useful for those who like organizing screenshots or for tech bloggers and writers who regularly cover stories related to Samsung phones and produce screenshots to accompany their articles and posts.

Samsung has yet to release the official version of its Android 8.0 Oreo. At present, it is still beta testing Oreo for its 2017 flagship phones. Over the weekend, the South Korea tech giant launched the fourth beta build for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. On the other hand, the first early build for the Galaxy Note 8 was rolled out early this month.

According to Android Police, the fourth beta build for the S8 and S8 Plus comes with a long list of bug fixes. The build clocked in at 850MB, making it somehow larger than the previous two betas. In addition to the bug fixes, the fourth build comes with the December Google security patches and improved Bluetooth stability.

Samsung is not exactly the fastest when it comes to bringing the latest Android updates to its smartphones. The main reasons for this is the large product portfolio of the company and the numerous carrier agreements that hinder a speedy rollout of software updates. Android Authority predicts that Samsung’s Android 8.0 update will most likely arrive either in January of February of 2018.
