Selena Gomez’s fans were left furious after learning one of the scenes in the “Saved By the Bell” reboot appeared to mock the “Rare” singer’s kidney transplant.

“Respect Selena Gomez” began trending on Twitter over the weekend when fans began sharing a scene from the reboot. While they didn’t find the scene offensive, the poster in the background became a major issue.

The poster read, “Does Selena Gomez even have kidneys?” After seeing the insensitive poster, Gomez’s fans flocked to Twitter on Saturday to slam the show and defend the 28-year-old.

“The poster in the back ‘does Selena Gomez have kidneys’ what were the writers of this show even thinking?!?! Respect Selena Gomez!!! Like really, did they think people will find this funny? And if you did, it says a lot about your character,” one person wrote.

Another person added, “I can’t believe a show joked on something serious, Selena could’ve lost her life to this. It’s extremely disrespectful. RESPECT SELENA GOMEZ.”

Meanwhile, one person was angry that the show forgot that Gomez is more than just a famous popstar.

“This woman is first of all a human being, and her being the subject of mockery because of her illness is the most disgusting act. Who knows what problems she has at home or outside so everything is not as much as we see on the screen,” the fan wrote.

In September 2017, Gomez announced that she received a kidney transplant due to her battle with Lupus. The “Look at Her Now” singer revealed her friend, Francia Raisa, donated her kidney to save her life.

As of Saturday afternoon, “Respect Selena Gomez” has been tweeted nearly 150,000 times.
