'SEAL Team': David Boreanaz Shares An Advice For His Younger Self, 'Just Be Simple'

David Boreanaz has an important piece of advice that he wants to tell his younger self after spending 30 years in the business.

"Oh wow, I don't know, that'd be a really long answer," Boreanaz said in an exclusive interview with ET. "I would just really, it is weighted which is good because it's made me the artist who I am today. So I honor that, right? I'm accountable and I love that. I mean, just stick with the good coffee. That's all, man. Don't go to the tea, stick with the good coffee, stay at the right diner and then call it a day and just be simple."

The 52-year-old actor has come a long way in Hollywood from his first paid acting gig to becoming a well-loved character in the late 1990's vampire series and later on, landing the lead role in a military drama. Boreanaz said it was quite hard to zero in on a single piece of advice but he pointed out that hard work and uncomplicated ways helped keep him steady in the business.

"Details, man, it's all in the details," he told ET's Matt Cohen.

Before he starred as Jack Hayes, the leader of the Tier One team, on CBS' "SEAL Team," Boreanaz's first paid project was a guest spot on "Married..With Children." After that, he went on to play Angel in the hit series "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar in the late 1990s. He landed the lead role in its spinoff, "Angel," where he played the character of a vampire with a soul. Shortly after the series ended in 2004, Boreanaz starred as homicide investigator Seeley Booth in "Bones" in 2005.

The actor expressed hope that "SEAL Team" would gain more fans as Season 5 episodes delve into the life of his character. The series aired its last episode for CBS on Oct. 31 and is now available to stream on Paramount+.

The streaming platform said it picked up "SEAL Team" and another CBS show, "Evil," because the shows ranked high among the most-watched CBS series this season.

Boreanaz, who is also a producer on the show, said it was rewarding to share veterans' stories and explore the mental health issues that arise after serving in the military.

"It's a blessing and I'm so humbled to play a character that can show this. It's very easy for us to forget until something catastrophic happens, right? Or if there's a tragedy that happens, and these men and women do this day in and day out and sacrifice for our country," he told ET.
