For federal and civilian businesses, the need for cutting-edge security solutions has grown exponentially as threats become more advanced and harder to combat. In the past year, 34.5% of company executives confirmed that their financial data has been targeted through cyberattacks. Of that same group, only 20.3% of these teams are working with cybersecurity professionals.

In addition to cybercrime, new artificial intelligence products are making cyberattacks easier to orchestrate. Hackers using these tools can spot weaknesses and patterns in a business' security system. Open-source data like code or social media posts can also be weaponized by these malicious individuals. It has even been shown that AI-generated phishing emails are more likely to be opened than manually written ones.

Larger, more physical threats are also a danger for organizations. The prevalence of mass shootings and the wide availability of autonomous devices like drones can have terrifying consequences if a business doesn't have the input of a knowledgeable security team. In the case of drones, open-source AI makes it possible to modify a commercial drone into a lethal autonomous weapon. Due to the clear weaknesses commonly found in security systems, decision makers should be innovating their current defenses to counteract these problems.

Furthermore, artificial intelligence products have made cyberattacks easier to orchestrate, while mass shootings and autonomous devices like drones present additional dangers. To counteract these problems, decision-makers should seek innovative security measures.

John Palmer, co-founder and President of Servexo, has over 20 years experience in the security industry. His company provides full-scale security services for federal and civilian businesses and John educates executives on the importance of proper protection. He believes security providers must have technical knowledge, customer service skills, and reliable infrastructure to fully protect their clients. An integrated approach like this increases value and safety for clients but also accommodates future needs. A client who wants to expand their security measures would be able to work with one provider who offers full-scale services rather than limited options.

John Palmer became passionate about protecting others from threats when he was a teenager. When the World Trade Center was attacked in 2001, it was John's birthday. He was turning 15 and that day would be forever etched into his mind. The impact of that incident pushed John to join the Army and serve his country.

After six years working in the support battalion, John was trying to identify his purpose after military life. He was living in his car and opportunities to do something risky weren't at his fingertips. John overcame these hardships and acted on his passion to address the issues that his company would inevitably solve. Servexo was the name John had created for his budding security company because it represented serving others and executing things successfully.

Securing the first few clients after Servexo had been incorporated in 2013 wasn't simple. John's wife, who also served in the Army, was his business partner. She had grown up in East LA where drugs and gangs were unavoidable, and as a young Afro-Latina woman, she had to work hard to create a better life. John had similar childhood experiences and quickly learned what being a Black business owner entails, "Equal opportunity doesn't always equate to equal outcomes" says Palmer. As young, veteran entrepreneurs of color, the discrimination the Palmers faced was not limited to racial or even financial. Despite these barriers to success, Servexo quickly found its footing and began obtaining contracts for civilian and federal organizations.

Servexo's first government contract came in 2015 and provided a stepping stone for future opportunities with larger benefits. Servexo's reputation was strengthened in 2016 when they were named small business of the year by the SBA. This allowed John and his partner to open their first office two years later and were awarded a federal contract by the General Services Administration. The contract was only given to 16 other businesses that year in their respective social economic category and enabled Servexo to access privately advertised government contracts.

Fast forward to next month, Servexo will be celebrating over a decade in the business. John and his wife and cofounder are excited about their progress since they not only cater to client needs but also bring employment opportunities for a marginalized group. Sixty-five percent of Servexo's staff are from the same socio-economic background as its founders.

Servexo brings unique value to organizations through security technology, drone security, and general services for health care, government utilities, and corporate locations.

John and his wife built Servexo from principles of collaboration, compassion, and service. They believe this foundation will continue to fulfill Servexo's mission of alleviating cost, time, and loss of assets for clients.

John also envisions Servexo reaching 200 million dollars in revenue within the next five years and offering a package model of services via SaaS technology and other verticals. Besides offering robots, security guards, and other intriguing services to his customer base, John and his team love giving back to the community. Through fundraisers, food banks, and giveaways, John finds as many ways to bring joy to other people. As a servant leader, he considers it a privilege to help others.

"For me, security is a multi-faceted thing. I often refer to Servexo as a castle because our services shield clients from any type of threat. Our full-scale security offerings will usually always satisfy a client's need, but if we can't fulfill their requests, we have the resources in our castle to point them in the right direction. We consider ourselves an advocate for our clients and that's shown in our expertise, integration, and superb customer service. Servexo has always been at the forefront of innovation and we're dedicated to promoting the values of a fully developed approach to security and taking care of our clients through compassionate service," says John Palmer.
