Shadowhunters
Here's what fans can expect from “Shadowhunters” Season 2. Freeform

“Shadowhunters” fans are excited to learn what will happen next between Magnus (Harry Shum Jr.) and Alec (Matthew Daddario) after they shared a kiss in the Freeform show. While it’s still quite a long wait before the two will return to the small screen together, new showrunners Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer promise that the wait will be worth it.

Speaking to Empire magazine, Slavkin said they were impressed with the Malec storyline in Season 1, so they are definitely going to continue the pair’s story.

“Now it’s like, ‘Well, now what?’ That’s a really fun challenge to show the evolution of that relationship in season two,” Slavkin said. “I think people will be really excited.”

Slavkin previously said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that one of the things the show will tackle in terms of Magnus and Alec’s relationship is the difference between their experiences.

“They’re from such two different worlds -- one’s a warlock, one’s a shadowhunter,” the producer said. “One is super experienced and has lived for centuries and has bedded many, many, many men and women, and here’s Alec, who is a young lad who’s just leaping into the world of relationships.”

Executive producer Michael Reisz also told Paste magazine that while the upcoming Season 2 will touch on the relationship between the two, their growths as individual characters will not be neglected. The characters, who were created by author Cassandra Clare, will also remain true to their natures.

Meanwhile, Slavkin also said that aside from Malec, all the other lead cast members of the show will also get more screen time in the upcoming season.

“Shadowhunters” Season 2 is slated for a Jan. 2, 2017 premiere date. Apart from Shum and Daddario, the show will also see the return of Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, Emeraude Toubia and Alberto Rosende, among many others.
