Shadowhunters
Here's what fans can expect from “Shadowhunters” Season 2. Freeform

“Shadowhunters” Season 2 is coming soon, and clips teasing the new installment of the series based on Cassandra Clare’s “The Mortal Instruments” have already been released.

The latest video features the odd relationship between Clary (Katherine McNamara) and Jace (Dominic Sherwood). The clip opens with Jace trying to help Clary get used to the idea of living a new life. On her 18th birthday, Clary found out that her mother lied to her about her identity. It turns out she and her mother are shadowhunters —part angel, part human hybrids that hunt down demons.

The video shows how the two’s relationship progressed from them being strangers to being lovers to learning that they have the same father.

Jace found it hard to deal with the idea of having Valentine (Alan van Sprang) as his father, but in the end, he decided that it would be better for him to join forces with him in order to learn more about him. The decision was also prompted by his relationship with Clary, which cannot continue seeing that they are related.

Jace’s decision to leave the Institute to join forces with Valentine and his army will be one of the biggest arcs of the upcoming season. McNamara said in an interview with VVV magazine that the tables have turned for Jace and her character in the next installment of the series. Whereas Clary was the confused one at the beginning of the first season, Jace will now be the one who is not sure about his identity and life choices. Clary will also try to guide Jace and help him figure things out.

Clary will also be a “new kind” of shadowhunter in the upcoming season. While she used to be so unsure of her identity, Clary will be more confident and discerning this time around.

“Shadowhunters” Season 2 will premiere Jan. 2 on Freeform.
