Trekkies all around the world reunite as Star Trek Day is back again. This year's celebration marks 55 years of the much-loved franchise.

Star Trek Day, observed every Sept. 8, honors the day in 1966 when Star Trek: The Original Series first graced television screens. From that pilot episode entitled "The Man Trap," the franchise has since grown exponentially and even continues to expand with current and upcoming series.

Whether you were a fan of the franchise from the beginning or a much newer one, Star Trek Day is an opportunity for viewers all over the world to celebrate "all things Star Trek."

To mark the event, Trekkies around the globe can celebrate by watching a marathon of their favorite series in the franchise or perhaps the many movies that have been made on the same since. Others may also join the free live-streamed panels lined up for the occasion, featuring cast members and the "creative minds" behind the Star Trek universe.

To commemorate the day, let's have a look at some inspiring quotes from the franchise that may just get you excited for Star Trek Day. (Courtesy: Memory Alpha, Inc., AnQuotes, Magical Quotes and TV Tropes)
