Fans who have been following spoilers of “Star Wars: Episode 9” know how the plot will explore details about Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) parents. There have been reports of a dagger that will shed some light on the young Jedi’s past. However, there may be more to this weapon than meets the eye.

The following article contains spoilers and a theory about “Star Wars: Episode 9.”

According to Bespin Bulletin, there is a scene in the upcoming film in which Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) talks about Rey’s parents. In a way this is a continuation of a conversation they previously had. The Supreme Leader will say that the Jedi’s parents sold her to keep her safe and use that money to buy drinks, but they were later murdered with a dagger that has Sith inscription on it.

The dagger is also significant because the Sith inscription on it will reveal the location of a wayfinder device that is key to finding out where Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) has been hiding all these years. Touching the wayfinder device will give Ridley’s character vision of what is now being called Dark Rey, as seen in the “Star Wars: Episode 9” video that was released at Disney’s D23 event.

Were Rey’s parents murdered by a Sith dagger, or is there another explanation to this? There have been rumors that Legends character Mara Jade will be featured in the upcoming film, Screen Rant reported. The character used to be an assassin who used to work for the Emperor, but she later switched sides and fell in love with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).

If Mara Jade is Rey’s mother in “Star Wars: Episode 9” it would explain the presence of a Sith dagger at the place of her murder. It would also explain Rey’s pull to the Dark Side of the Force, just as the son of Darth Vader was tempted in the Original Trilogy.
