Taylor Swift appeared on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" and jokingly said, "I wasn't prepared for this to be an extremely hard-hitting interview."

The 31-year-old singer joined Colbert on Tuesday to finally set the record straight about the Stephen she mentions in "Hey Stephen," a song from her latest album, "Fearless (Taylor's Version)," a re-recorded version of her 2008 album. It's the first of six newly recorded albums Swift intends to eventually release.

"Hey Stephen! Thank you so much for having me on the show, finally!" Swift said. Colbert immediately addressed the elephant in the room and asked, "Listen, I just want to get this out there, is the song 'Hey Stephen' about me?"

"No, Stephen, I first recorded that song in, like, 2008. I think I was 18?" Swift replied. "While you were probably 44-years-179-days-old, give or take a couple hours."

"Wow, that is shockingly specific," Colbert said.

"Like I said, I'm a big fan," Swift told the host.

The 56-year-old political commentator and comedian thanked Swift for sending him a signed CD. Swift then responded, "Oh, yeah, you know I signed it to you, Stephen with a PH, I sent it to the Colbert Report, 513 West 54th St, New York, 10019, second floor office facing the street."

Colbert once again asked the singer, "Are you sure 'Hey Stephen' isn't about me?" Swift replied, "It's just the power of music Stephen, good songs make you feel like it's about you." Swift kept denying the song wasn't about Colbert, but then she showcased an old board that consists of Colbert's pictures.

"Hey Stephen is not about you any more than my album '1989' is about that year you spent waiting tables on the lunch shift at [an Italian restaurant] in the river north area of Chicago that by the way serves a really incredible slice of pizza," she said while pointing toward the board pictures.

The host couldn't hold back any further and asked about the singer's muse for the song, and she replied, "I wasn't prepared for this to be an extremely hard-hitting interview... but if you really want to know the truth, and I've never revealed this to anyone, 'Hey Stephen' is about Stephen King,"

The entire back and forth conversation was clearly a pre-planned sketch and it flaunted Swift's comedic timing.
