Mike (Patrick J. Adams) is taking a little bit of a backseat in next week’s midseason finale of “Suits.”

After finally walking out of prison at the end of this Wednesday’s episode, Mike will be spending the summer finale making it up to Rachel (Meghan Markle) for all the lost time.

“He’s just focused on getting back to being with Rachel,” Adams told Yahoo TV when asked what fans can expect from Mike in Season 6, episode 10, titled “P.S.L.”

The 35-year-old actor added that viewers will also witness a reversal of sorts between Mike and Rachel in the summer finale. “He’s just so excited to finally be able to support Rachel in her first case,” Adams told The Hollywood Reporter of how Mike will be reintegrated to the original world of “Suits” in the first episode since his release from jail. “It’s really about that; a reversal where he gets to be the one sitting in the courtroom watching her and helping her as he quietly readjusts to his life.”

As for the question of what will Mike do next now that he’s already served jail time for practicing law fraudulently, Adams told Yahoo TV that it’s going to be a “longer conversation” and is not something that will be resolved in a single episode.

“There is some conversation in [Episode 10] about what might be [his] next steps, but the back six episodes [of Season 6] I’m sure will be about what Mike does and how he fits in,” the Canadian thespian said.

While fans won’t find out in the midseason finale whether Mike will try to go back to school to become a legit lawyer, Adams said that there a lot of other things to look forward to in the upcming episode.

“All of the other sort of dangling pieces of the story that we’ve been working with, what’s happening with Rachel’s trial, … what’s happening with Louis [Rick Hoffman] and Tara [Carly Pope] — all of it takes a few steps forward [in Episode 10],” Adams said. “And as per usual, the way we leave the episode will inherently change the show a little bit.”

In addition, according to the synopsis for the episode, Harvey [Gabriel Macht] and Louis will try to convince their oldest and most loyal client to stay in Pearson Specter Litt in an attempt to keep the firm’s other clients from jumping ship.

“P.S.L.” airs on Wednesday, Sept 14, at 9 p.m. on USA Network. Check out preview clip for the episode below.
