Kara will be reunited with Mon-El in next week’s Season 3, episode 7 of “Supergirl.” And while Kara is relieved to see Mon-El alive in the trailer for the installment, reconnecting with the love of her life will be hard for her.

“It’s going to be weird and difficult,” Benoist told Entertainment Weekly when asked how her character Kara will handle Mon-El’s (Chris Wood) return. “[It’s like] you watch ‘Castaway,’ and Tom Hanks returns and Helen Hunt doesn’t know what to do.”

As seen in promo clip, it doesn’t take long before the Kara realizes that Mon-El is no longer the man he was before. “Is it not you?” Kara asks Mon-El in the teaser. When the Prince of Daxam says that it’s still him, Kara begs, “Then, make me believe it.”

In addition to Mon-El returning as a changed man, Benoist said that picking up where he and Kara left off will also be difficult because she’s suffered a lot during his absence.

“Mon-El was the first love that Kara’s ever had,” Benoist told Entertainment Weekly. “I know they had their differences up until the end [of Season 2], but toward the end, they really saw each other on an even playing field. They were peers. She said, ‘Go be a hero, you’re ready.’ They believed in each other, so losing that confidante, that support, that love was devastating to her. I feel like, for the first time, especially since we’ve started the show, she really felt like she had it balanced [in Season 2] — she had a happy life with her partner, she had work going for her and was working her way up in the premiere, and she was loving being Supergirl and saving the world, so a giant part of her identity was wrenched from her.”

Elsewhere in the episode, according to the synopsis for the hour, J’onn (David Harewood) attempts to bond with his father, M’yrnn (Carl Lumbly). Meanwhile, Samantha (Odette Annable) — who is eager to understand the changes she has been experiencing — looks to her estranged mother, Patricia Arias (Betty Buckley), for answers.

“Supergirl” Season 3, episode 7, titled “Wake Up” airs Monday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW. Watch the trailer below:
